This month I am highlighting a match involving young Welsh star Jarrad Breen.

With notable appearances in Welsh finals and in the televised stages of the World Bowls Tour tournaments, he has proved to be a very talented young bowler.

Wales have had a habit of producing and developing new talent and Jarrad was given the responsibility of skipping for the Welsh senior indoor team last season, a major honour for one so young.

In the match featured here, he has come face to face with England’s Gary R Smith, one of the most experienced and professional players on the international indoor circuit.

I have selected an end from very early in the match. It’s the fourth end and the young Welshman has his nose in front at 2-1, with two very close shots counting against him.

Win! A Rail Exclusive special edition sound-fitted Class 47 Worth over £200

TO COMMEMORATE the 50th anniversary of the entry into service of the Class 47 diesels and as the conclusion to Paul Chetter’s two-part article on these once ubiquitous locomotives, Rail Exclusive and Hornby Magazine are proud to present this competition to win one of these very special Zimo sound equipped models. Not only will the lucky winner get to choose from two livery variations, but they can also take advantage of a bespoke naming and numbering service - a package valued at well over £200.
Rail Exclusive, the diesel-era limited edition specialists, commissioned Italian manufacturer ViTrains to produce four versions of its highly acclaimed Class 47 model in the colours of British Rail’s Railfreight Distribution business earlier this year. The ‘double diamonds’ nickname coined from the prominent red and yellow logos and the Diamond Jubilee name of one of the machines tied-in nicely with this year’s Royal Jubilee celebrations.

You can choose from either the original ‘triple-grey’ sub-sector livery introduced in 1987 or the later modified colour scheme with the ‘European’ blue roof and bodyside lettering. Completed versions of each are available as 47365 Diamond Jubilee or 47555 The Commonwealth Spirit. Alternatively, the option is open to have the model numbered to your personal choice from a selection of suitable candidates. This includes the fitting of appropriate etched stainless steel nameplates, depot plaques and/or double arrows. The locomotive will be provided in a special presentation box, along with a certificate.

However, these models are not all about their looks! The specially designed sound set-up sees the first use of a Zimo MX645 sound decoder in a UK ready-to-run diesel, which is mated with a powerful speaker to make the most of its incredible capabilities. Hornby Magazine’s sound specialist, Paul Chetter, has worked closely with Rail Exclusive to come up with what many people have said is the best diesel sound project to date! For more details about the models visit or ring 01780 470086.

Strictly no multiple entries. The winner will be the first correct answer drawn at random immediately after the closing date. There is no cash alternative, and no correspondence can be entered into. The competition is not open to employees of Key Publishing or Hornby Magazine. The Marketing Manager’s decision is final. The winner will be notified by post, and will be published in HM68. The closing date for entries is December 15 2012.
