X-Plane 11, for Windows, Mac, and Linux, is the latest evolution of the desktop version of the franchise. Over the years it has always been the policy of Laminar to continually improve X-Plane, providing the most realistic flight simulation available, with flight modelling so accurate that it has been adopted by several commercial aviation organisations.

X-Plane 11 continues this evolution with new aircraft, scenery, and 3-D airports. It also incorporates the latest technology in computing and graphics processing, resulting in improved visual and dynamic effects. The new rendering engine will be used for enhanced lighting and water details along with updated weather and atmospheric effects.

The new version will feature a new intuitive user interface and control setup along with overhauled default aircraft with high-resolution exteriors 3D cockpits as well as detailed documentation, plus several new aircraft types.

New global autogen scenery will feature with both European and North American buildings as well as the latest road placement and global scenery from OpenStreetMaps. It will also come with more than 3000 airports with 3-D buildings & airport scenery. These will be populated with dynamic, driving service vehicles and static and dynamic aircraft.

X-Plane 11 will be available as both a digital download and also in a DVD format. It is expected to be released by Laminar Research by the end of 2016.
