Twister Duo debuts for 2010
A new aerobatic team will debut on the UK airshow circuit next year.
December 2: A new aerobatic team will debut on the UK airshow circuit next year – the ‘Twister Duo’ is a two-aircraft display act that uses the Silence Twister, a German-built sports aircraft with a striking resemblance to the iconic Spitfire.
Leading the team is Peter Wells, who is UK agent for sales of the Twister. Peter has displayed the Twister as part of the Swift Aerobatic display act since 2007, the team put together by eight times UK national glider aerobatic champion Guy Westgate. As well as continuing with the Swift glider display in 2010, Guy will share duties in the second Twister with former Royal Air Force display pilot Andy Preece, who flew the Tutor during 2007 and 2008.
The Twister is actually developed from a world-beating radio controlled model! “The aircraft is remarkably efficient thanks to its smooth lines and efficient elliptical wing,” says Peter. “After 1,200 hours on it, I still get excited when opening the hangar doors!”
