July 21: Following its announcement on Monday of a buy of 51 Airbus A320s, new leasing company Air Lease Corporation (ALC) is also to buy up to 60 Boeing 737-800 Next-Generation aircraft.

The agreement includes 54 firm orders and six options, with delivery scheduled through 2017. "We have selected the Boeing 737-800 as a cornerstone of our growing commercial aircraft lease fleet,” said Steven Udvar-Hazy, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ALC. "This order with Boeing will continue this management team's tradition of working closely with the company since 1977."
