A new exhibitionwill be officially opened on 18th June – on the anniversary of General de Gaulle's appeal to the French people to fight on against the NAZI's and the creation of the Free French on 18th June 1940.

The exhibition at the Lycee Charles de Gaulle in London is dedicated to the French Airmen who flew with the RAF during WWll, many of whom flew from RAF Elvington near York - the home of the Yorkshire Air Museum & Allied Air Forces Memorial.

The exhibition will be unveiled by Mdme Brigitte Williams Official Delegate of Fondation de la France Libre at 12:30pm, followed by a presentation at Ciné Lumiére of historic footage and short documentaries about the Free French fighter squadrons and French Bomber Command squadrons who flew with the Royal Air Force during World War ll.

In attendance will be diplomatic, civil and official representatives and guests including Jan Leeming the former BBC TV News reader who will present her latest BBC film about her research into the famous French Battle of Britain pilot, René Mouchotte.

Museum Director Ian Reed said, "It is an honour to have been asked to prepare this exhibition in such a prestigious location in Central London. The exhibition will be in place for a year and will further help to cement Anglo / French understanding of our recent past and commemorate those who fought to give us the lives we now enjoy."
