Flight1/Aeroplane Heaven have released their long-awaited P-51D Mustang. Specifically developed from the ground up for Flight Simulator X, the developer has gone to great lengths in making this add-on as detailed and as authentic as possible.
We’ve been told that real-world ‘warbird’ pilots have been involved to ensure this P-51’s visual accuracy inside and out. World War II-era flight manuals have been used to ensure that everything works as it should, from start-up to shut-down.
The help of restorer and experienced P-51D owner-pilot Maurice Hammond has also been enlisted to ensure the flight fidelity of this rendition of North American’s thoroughbred. The user can choose to fly Maurice's own aircraft - 'Marinell' and 'Janie' - and you'll even get to see a virtual version of Maurice in his distinctive helmet at the controls.
There are also additional high fidelity paint schemes including: Marinell, Janie, Big Beautiful Doll, Old Crow, Jersey Jerk,Ferocious Frankie, RNZAF, Cripes 'a' Mighty, LouIV and more.
And if your favourite Mustang paint scheme isn't present in this package, then the paint-kit included will let you create your own. Furthermore, all models carry bump-mapping, specular shine and light-bloom effects. For further details, visit www.flight1.com.
