February 25: Robert Pleming, Chief Executive to the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, has announced to supporters that a single donation of nearly half a million pounds has secured Vulcan XH558’s future for another year.

“The donor has asked to remain anonymous, but I can reassure you that he is fully aware of the significance of this contribution,” says Pleming. The donation of £458,000 has doubled the available cash for this year and the Board of Trustees has agreed to go forward with the planned engineering programme at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire and commit to the 2010 display season.

A fresh campaign in will be launched in May, aimed at taking XH558 on into 2011 and beyond.

Surely Virgin would make a great sponsor what with the V,s , Vulcan and V bomber associations!
Even if that meant painting Virgin on bomb doors or other?

Fantastic news.A big thankyou to the person who gave this money.

Perhaps Royal of Scotland should be forced by the Government - who in effect own them - to give some of the Bonus money to this worthy cause, rather than into the pockets of overpaid ,underserving" fat cat Bankers" .

Great news!
"If the Argies get a bit cocky down in the south Atlantic again, we could send her down there to create a few more golf bunkers and remind them not to upset the British,"

That's the news I've been looking for. Even though I live in Canada, one day I'm hoping to see, hear and feel the Vulcan fly again. Awesome news. Thanks mysterious donor!
