February 28: Russian Helicopters, JSC has confirmed that it has chosen French company Turbomeca’s Ardiden 3G engine for its Ka-62M model.

Turbomeca and Russian Helicopters have also agreed to an after sale service of Russian rotorcraft fitted with the French engines. Russian Helicopters Chief Operating Officer, Andrei Shibitov, said “Our long-term cooperation with Turbomeca has been very pleasant and successful and we are looking forward to enhance our partnership. It will be easier for our prospective helicopters to move onto the global and European markets if they are fitted with Turbomeca engines. The Ardiden 3 is the modern engine Ka helicopters need for their specific requirements, with a double advantage: a low operating cost thanks to high reliability and an exceptionally low fuel consumption.”

The Ka-62 is intended for oil and gas operations, medical evacuation and search and rescue missions as well as corporate and VIP transport.
