Air Slovakia goes bust

Air Slovakia ceased operations on March 2.

March 4: Air Slovakia ceased operations on March 2 due to financial difficulties, the third airline from the country to close down during the last six months. Since October both SkyEurope Airlines and Seagle Air have ceased trading due to the harsh economic climate.

Air Slovakia was founded in 1993 and operated four Boeing 737 ‘Classics’ and three 757-200s during its last year of operations. Ryanair has said that it will offer Air Slovakia passengers a “rescue fare” of €69 until March 31.

Always tragic when an airline ceases trading, although no great suprise. I must echo Chri's comments re Ryanair. I would be behind him at the bus stop.

i agree, i would rather walk home than be 'rescued' by Ryanair and have to pay for it...

Ryan air is disgusting when it comes to arrogant behavior! And doing a great job killing the sad rest of glamor left in aviation.. All this "bye bye to all the bust airlines" makes me sick... come on, it is colleagues that have lost their jobs !! Next time it might be you!

Bloody cheek it was from Ryan Air. They do not have anything to do with rescuing Air Slovakia passengers just another publicity stunt. Typical Oleary

Oh how I am waiting for some airline to really hurt Ryan Air
It is time they had the same as they give out
The worlds worst airline by far and no they are not cheap just nasty

I was left high and dry in India and had to buy a new tciket back to Barcelone.Had to pay through my nose. Please do let me know as to how do I claim the refund from air slovikia.

Hi Jagbir i guess you can forget about any refund im sorry.. but since they owe pilots and cabin crew wages from the last 6 months which we can forget to, i guess there will be a slim chance to refund tickets, unless there is some sort of passenger insurrance.
good luck
