A newly acquired lower cowling is to be used in a proposed Whitley rebuild.
The UK-based Whitley Project has recently acquired a complete lower cowling from an Armstrong Whitworth Whitley. It is thought to have been rescued from a scrapyard in South Wales. Project boss Elliott Smock is confident the battered item can be straightened and used in his rebuild initiative. “This acquisition is a significant boost as it means we now have an almost complete set of cowlings for the aircraft,” he told FlyPast. Elliott is keen to hear from anyone who has Whitley parts to sell, trade or donate. Email: elliott1940@yahoo.com
