Following the release of the 146 Professional for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Just Flight development team has revealed they are working on major updates for the aircraft, including a custom UNS-1 Flight Management Computer.
According to the latest development update, the Just Flight team has nearly finished the EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) performance data functionality, which will include a dynamic CG (Centre of Gravity) chart, TMS (Thrust Management System) and take-off and landing distance calculators.
The team has also been developing a custom UNS-1 Flight Management System (FMS), an older style of unit fitted in aircraft during the 1990s and 2000s such as the Dash-8 Q400, Learjet 45, and the Bae 146, providing GPS navigation with outputs to autopilot LNAV and HSI functions. The navigation data is courtesy of Navigraph, enabling you to use the latest AIRAC cycles.
Additional controls have been added to the EFB configuration menu to allow you to quickly toggle between the existing modern FMS or the new classic FMS without the need to switch aircraft variants or restart the flight. You can also still disable the FMS entirely if you prefer conventional navigation.
The FMS also has VNAV functionality, although as with the real aircraft this isn’t coupled with the VNAV autopilot mode, so you will need to make use of other pitch modes (IAS, VS etc) to manage your climbs and descents.
Just Flight has not provided a release date for the new UNS-1 FMS but it is currently undergoing extensive testing and video guides will be made available as it nears release. More details are available on Just Flights In-Development section.
