The programme evaluates all passenger processes to help boost customer confidence
Airports Council International (ACI) World has announced the extension of its Airport Health Accreditation programme, originally a 12-month certification that helps demonstrate to passengers and international governments that safety measures are being prioritised.
The certification was launched last July and is supported by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Since then, more than 600 facilities have signed up to the scheme.
Airports are now able to apply for re-accreditation for a further year in line with the ICAO’s Council Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) recommendations.
“ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation programme continues to provide invaluable support to airports around the world, enabling them to validate their own measures throughout their facilities and processes and reassure the travelling public,” said Luis Felipe de Oliveira, ACI World director. “The reestablishment of air travel will be a key driver for a global economic recovery but, to succeed, passengers must have confidence in the industry’s focus on health and welfare.”
The programme assesses all passenger areas and processes such as terminal access, check-in areas, security screening, boarding gates, food amenities and border control areas.
Additionally, cleaning, social distancing, staff protection, communication and physical layout are all evaluated.
