Light aviation has been the life of this highly skilled engineer and pilot — not least a wide variety of outstanding vintage aeroplanes
Recreational aviation can seem as if it’s under assault from all sides. The weight of bureaucracy, the rising costs, the complexity of airspace, the closure of airfields — there’s a long list of reasons why, to some private pilots, flying just isn’t so much fun any more. Others, of course, would disagree. In the right circumstances, there remains tremendous enjoyment to be had from taking to the skies in a small aeroplane, to say nothing of the satisfaction that can be derived from building one yourself. And in the Light Aircraft Association, formerly the Popular Flying Association, the whole movement has a dedicated and enthusiastic advocate.
