Many aviation people their who profession made will tell you the most satisfying aspect wasn’t so much the aircraft they flew, or the places they went, but those they met along the way. When that list includes Barnes Wallis, Brian Trubshaw and Roland Beamont, to name but a few, you can tell it’s been a notably rich career. And that’s before you count the likes of a leading politician, or a top Grand Prix driver.
