Air campaign continues as Gaza conflict enters second week

As the conflict between Israeli security forces and combatants of the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) continues through a second week, the intensity of operations on both sides is maintained with reports of new strikes in Gaza City, rocket strikes and unmanned threats to Israeli airspace.

Since May 10, more than 3,150 rockets have been fired by Hamas forces in the Gaza strip into Israel during the conflict, 90% of which have been intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on May 17. To date ten Israeli citizens had been killed and over 250 injured by rocket attacks.
