Air Canada resumes flights to key destinations

The airline is set to restart services between Calgary and Frankfurt from August 1

During an unveiling of its summer 2021 international schedule, Air Canada announced the return of 17 routes to 11 destinations including Greece, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Italy, Spain, and the UK. This follows the recent relaxation of arrival procedures for vaccinated citizens by Canada’s government.

The carrier has also just launched its first, nonstop service to Cairo from its Montreal hub. Operating three times a week, the route will serve the large Egyptian community that currently resides in Montreal and throughout North America.

“As travel restrictions ease across the globe, we are committed to rebuild our international network and continue as a global carrier to connect Canada to the world, while also developing additional markets and targeting new opportunities,” said Mark Galardo, senior vice president, network planning and revenue management at Air Canada. “Canadians are eager to travel again, and we are ready to reunite customers with their families and friends.”

He added: “With vaccination rates globally increasing and our industry-leading CleanCare+ bio-safety protocols, Air Canada has your health and safety as its top priority. We are pleased to restart our non-stop service between Calgary and Frankfurt, a key European market for our customers in Western Canada. This route will operate all year long, connecting Calgary to the world via the global hub of our transatlantic joint venture partner, Lufthansa, in Frankfurt.”
