The Mauritian national carrier will be moving from London Heathrow to London Gatwick
Air Mauritius has announced it will be moving its London operations from Heathrow to Gatwick in a bid to increase its capacity to the city.
Starting from Sunday October 29 2023, the Mauritian national carrier will boost its frequency from five weekly flights to a daily service to London Gatwick, which will be operated by its Airbus A350-941 and Airbus A330-941neo aircraft.
The leg from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport to London Gatwick will operate as MK042 daily, departing at 2305hrs and arriving into London at 0700hrs the next day.
The return leg will run as MK053 daily, leaving Gatwick at 1555hrs and arriving into Mauritius at 0715hrs the following day.
Krešimir Kučko, CEO of Air Mauritius stated that, "London has always been a high-priority destination for us and as part of the commemoration of Air Mauritius’ 50 years of operations to the United Kingdom in November 2023, we are proud to announce daily operations to London Gatwick as from 29 October this year.
“This strategic move allows Air Mauritius to meet increasing demand on this historical route while using its most environmentally friendly types of aircraft. London Gatwick Airport is located south of Central London and is easily accessible, for example, the Gatwick Express train service links London Gatwick Airport to London Victoria Station in only 30 minutes.
“We are confident that this new service will further strengthen our relationship with valued customers from the UK and the connecting markets."
