AIRBUS AND Bombardier are set tobecome partners on the C Series aircraftprogramme. The surprise move,announced on October 16 is, the Canadian plane maker says, a”strategic” decision and follows itsunsuccessful attempt to form a partnershipwith Airbus back in 2015.Alain Bellemare, Bombardier’s Presidentand CEO remarked: “We are doing thisdeal here not because of the Boeingpetition [claiming it received unfairsubsidies], we are doing it because it is astrategic move for Bombardier.”The US Department of Commerceupheld Boeing’s claim and proposedtrade duties of 300% on CanadianmanufacturedC Series aircraft importedinto the US.
