Aircraft Report: Boeing E-3 Sentry

Boeing’s E-3 Sentry is one of the most distinguishable airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft in operational service today. This is due to one key feature: its prominent rotating radar dome, also known as a rotodome, which is attached to the top of its fuselage by two struts. 

As an all-weather AEW&C platform, the E-3 Sentry performs a command and control battle management (C2BM) role and is able to conduct surveillance, reconnaissance and target detection and tracking missions. It provides a real-time, accurate picture of the battlespace to allied forces, enhancing their situational awareness of hostile, friendly and neutral activity in the area of operations.
