Leeds is the third most populous city in the UK, while the wider metropolitan county of West Yorkshire that surrounds it – which includes Bradford – is placed fourth in the population tables. The region is thriving, and has become the country’s largest financial centre outside of London. It is well connected to the capital via a frequent rail service, with the fastest trains taking a little over two hours. Driving 189 miles (304km) of M1 motorway between the two can be accomplished in around three hours, although it often takes much longer.
