Announcing the next TrueEarth region - Balearic Islands

Orbx has announced its next TrueEarth region for X-Plane - the Balearic Islands on the archipelago off eastern Spain.

The popular holiday destinations at the centre of the Mediterranean, the Balearic Islands are known for their lively and electric atmosphere, sun-drenched beaches, and hundreds of quaint coastal towns and resorts.

According to Orbx, the entire Balearic Islands will be modelled, from the party island of Ibiza to the more relaxing Mallorca and Majorca as well as numerous coastal towns and cities. Over 150 attractions, including major hotels and historic buildings, are all faithfully recreated.

Each island has its own unique flair and charm, complete with Spanish styled buildings, points of interest and custom autogen. Using the latest data, each tree and building is placed correctly on each island for a truly authentic simulation experience. This is a visually stunning part of the world and is well suited for all types of virtual flyers.

Features

  • Crisp and detailed 60cm/px aerial imagery covering Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and all the smaller surrounding islets
  • Hand-edited texturing with colour corrections to blend seamlessly in the simulator
  • Accurate Spanish themed autogen placed correctly on the aerial imagery at the correct location and height
  • Highly detailed mesh created from 5M LiDAR data brings out stunning detail on the coastlines and mountains
