Armed assault Mi-8s

The Russian Air and Space Force’s 18th Army Aviation Brigade, based at Khabarovsk in the Far East, received five Mi-8AMTSh models and one Mi-8AMTSh-V produced at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant in December 2017. These are armed assault transport helicopters intended to serve the assault and utility transport needs of all military units and branches in Russia’s Eastern Military District. When used for fire support, the Mi-8AMTSh can carry four B8V rocket packs for firing 20 80mm rockets and UPK-23-250 gunpods. Each helicopter is outfitted with search lights, night vision goggles and rescue hoists for search and rescue operations. Alexander Mladenov
