The Australian low-cost sector looks set for a major shake-up after independent, low-cost entrant, Bonza, recently revealed the blueprints for its initial route map, consisting of an impressive 16 destinations across 25 routes – all domestic – as part of what it claims to be “the largest launch announcement in Australian aviation history”.
Key details from the development show that Bonza – a name which is said to mean excellent in old Australian slang – will have both its head office (to be known as the ‘Bonza Backyard’) and first base at Sunshine Coast Airport in Queensland. Initially, a pair of Boeing 737 MAX jets are set to be based here, connecting Sunshine Coast with 12 routes from 37-weekly rotations.
