Our Friends Electric

Norwegian OSM Aviation Academy has placed an order for 60 all-electric aeroplanes from Denver Coloradobased manufacturer Bye Aerospace. The eFlyer 2 design offers zero emissions and significantly lower noise pollution compared with conventional aircraft, along with enhanced speed and altitude performance. The new aircraft will be used at the OSM Aviation Academy flight training centres and will be used to qualify the pilots of the future.

Espen Høiby, CEO of OSM Aviation Group, commented: “We’re proud to take the lead in the future of green aviation. This is the largest order for commercial electric aeroplanes to date. It’s important that the airline industry steps up to the challenge of developing more environmentally-friendly transport.” Høiby confidently predicts that it is only a matter of time before electrical aeroplanes enter commercial service for international air travel. He believes that the industry needs to be both pro-active and innovative.
