Aviator expands presence in Norway with SAS start-ups

The firm will provide ground handling and de-icing services, expanding its presence across the Nordic region

Aviator Airport Alliance AB has successfully launched ground handling operations for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) across multiple Norwegian airports, after securing the agreement in July last year.

From the beginning of this month, the aviation services firm has been the provider of ground handling and de-icing services for the airline at airports in Bergen, Tromso and Kristiansand. These three collaborations are a welcomed addition of the SAS and Aviator Partnership.

Tomas Holm, SAS head of operations, said: “I highly commend this impressive start with Aviator, pointing out that all the KPIs were met or even exceeded.” He went on the commend the communication between management and staff, stating that it was both “seamless and efficient”.

Aviator’s operational start-up of ground handling services was inaugurated originally at the three airports simultaneously. The company has undergone preparation to position its teams and equipment, enabling them to meet the demand of the airline’s operations.

Speaking of continuing operations throughout the harsh weather conditions at Tromso Airport, Kurt Jensen, Aviator station manager at the airport, said: “The winter of 2021 came to us with full force and February 1 successfully marked the start of our handling operations with SAS. After spending an enormous amount of time planning and training to establish a firm foundation for the start-up, our TOS station was well prepared for the size and demand that comes with our new customer - Scandinavian Airlines.”

The agreement further strengthens the relationship between the aviation company and SAS, as they brought in ground handling services in Sweden to Landvetter and Malmo Airports in September of last year. As a result of this, the new developments in Norway expand Aviator’s presence within the region as the leading ground handling provider.

Aviator provides services across the aviation spectrum, ranging from passenger and baggage handling, to de-icing facilities. The company currently has 90 offices across Central and Eastern Europe.
