This edition we discuss the circuit pattern in more detail…
Stage 1 – Lesson 7.
As student pilots work their way through the Private Pilot Licence syllabus, they will be spending a lot of flight time ‘in the circuit’ as they hone skills they need to safely demonstrate before their first major milestone – their first solo! Following up on our previous instalment of Back to Basics, we examine the circuit pattern in more detail and introduce some tips to help you fly smoothly and consistently using more modern training aircraft.
Law and order
As we discovered in our previous issue, the circuit provides a way of separating different types of aircraft flying at different speeds before they get to the threshold. It gives the pilots the opportunity to practice most of the skills they need within the few minutes it takes to complete the circuit.
We must also be certain of what we should be doing during each stage as we are likely to be sharing our circuit with others. We should also learn how to depart and enter the circuit correctly. To get started, let’s assume we are taking off and departing from the airport to do some work in the training area. This issue we are flying from Orbx Simulation’s Anacortes/74S a…
