Bahrain requests AH-1Z attack helicopters

The US State Department has approved a possible foreign military sale of 12 Bell AH-1Z attack helicopters to the government of Bahrain. The $911.4 million deal announced on April 27, 2018, will potentially see the Royal Bahraini Air Force take delivery of 12 AH-1Z attack helicopters, 26 T700- GE-401C engines (24 installed and two spares), 14 AAQ-30 target sight systems, 14 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, and 56 Advance Precision Kill Weapon Systems, plus equipment, spares, and logistics and training support. The US government says Bahrain will use the AH-1Zs as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defence. Nigel Pittaway
