Baron’s Combat Corner - A Combat Report

A Combat Report

In this instalment of Baron's combat corner, I am going to take a slight departure from our normal format and aim to put some of the theory that has been discussed over the past few issues into practice. To this end, I will be using one of my most memorable missions as a case study. Hopefully, as you read through this virtual combat report you will recognise some of the topics that have been discussed in the past, such as gaining height advantage, recognising the strong and weak points of your aircraft as well as those of your opponent, situation awareness (SA), getting in close before opening fire, to name but a few. In short, all the tools that we have at our disposal will be brought to bear. However, as in real life, the trick is knowing when to use the right tool at the right time.
