Aero Legends returns in Kent on September 25-27 with socially distanced show still allowing for 10,000 people per day.
Headcorn-based warbird operator Aero Legends has announced the rescheduling of its 2020 Battle of Britain Airshow.
It was due to take place in June but didn’t go ahead – like many other aviation gatherings this year – due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now, the show will be a three-day affair across September 25-26-27 (Fri/Sat/Sun), at Headcorn Aerodrome, Kent, UK, and Aero Legends will reveal the flying and static line-up in the coming weeks. The company is working hard to ensure that health and safety is first and foremost, but at the same time ensuring the long weekend is memorable for all concerned. People who had already purchased tickets for the June show can carry them over to the event this September. Last year’s airshow was the most popular yet since the company launched it in 2015, with visitor numbers surpassing 20,000.
Aero Legends owner, Keith Perkins, told us: “Headcorn is a stunning venue and perfect for our Battle of Britain airshow; I do not think there is anywhere else where you can get as close to the aircraft. The atmosphere at the last wartime grass airfield in Kent is hard to replicate. [Our] show has grown since we launched it in 2015 and now is well established as a family event and this year we will have even more capacity for the premium tickets, such as the flight line seating and Spitfire enclosure.
“The move to a three-day show [normally two days] and changing the layout of the venue to increase public space by 100% will ensure that we can provide an appropriately socially distanced environment for all ticket holders. Tickets are selling fast and there will be a capacity limit of 10,000 per day, so if you are thinking of coming it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We are firming up the flying content which will be updated regularly and expect to put on some great displays, even though a lot of aircraft normally available have been laid up due to the pandemic.”
The operator has confirmed its 2021 show dates as 25-26-27 June and has also made a return to its hugely popular passenger experience flights.
