Giovanni Colla reports on the Aeronautic Militare’s deployment of four F-35As Lightnings to Keflavik Air Base in Iceland for the third time

Given its unique geographical location and lack of local air defense capabilities, Iceland relies on its NATO allies for air policing. It maintains a periodic presence of NATO fighter aircraft at Keflavik with the task of meeting Iceland's peacetime preparedness needs to perform air surveillance and interception coverage over Iceland and maintain the sovereignty of NATO airspace.
