Biggin centenary

Three 100-year-old veterans helped celebrate the centenary of the inauguration of Biggin Hill aerodrome on 13 February. Former Spitfire pilot Ray Roberts went up for a flight with Pete Kynsey in one of the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar operated two-seat Spitfires, VIII Trainer MT818/G-AIDN. War Office telephonist Gertrude Baxter and Lily Osborne, who lived locally and knew the airfield well during the war, flew alongside in a new Zenith Aviation-operated Learjet. On 13 February 1917 the RFC Wireless Testing Park moved to Biggin from Joyce Green, Dartford.
