Low-fare carrier easyJet believes hydrogen is the key to greener flying. Chief operating officer David Morgan talks to Richard Schuurman about the airline’s bold sustainability plans

The scorching temperatures experienced across the UK and Europe this summer have once again thrust the issue of climate change to the fore. Aviation in all forms currently accounts for 3.7% of the EU's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, according to a report issued by the European Commission, and the industry – which currently remains almost entirely reliant on fossil fuels – is still widely recognised as one in which decarbonisation is challenging.
