Bombers to Bond - Wg Cdr Ken Wallis remembered

To mark the tenth anniversary of the death of aviator extraordinaire Wg Cdr Ken Wallis, Tom Allett recalls an interview with the great man from 2008

Pilot, designer, engineer, record breaker, amateur artist.. Kenneth Horatio Wallis was all of the above. While most people whose lives have stretched into their 90s are seeking the quiet life, at 92 years old Ken Wallis was still chasing world records. For an industry event, he arrived with his most famous autogyro, ‘Little Nellie’, towed behind his car, to put on display. The aircraft that had played a prominent role in the 1967 James Bond movie You Only Live Twice was just one of the examples in the remarkable autogyro collection at his Reymerston Hall home.
