Brooklands Museum hosts the only functional Concorde flight simulator in the world. Richard Benedikz was invited to experience the simulator first-hand to find out exactly how realistic it is and reported back his experience in the December 2009 issue of Airliner World
The museum has recently introduced a new ‘experience day’ offering the opportunity to get behind the controls of this iconic aircraft and test your piloting skills. These special 'At the Controls of Concorde’ days are available in limited numbers and can include up to 30 minutes actually flying the Concorde Simulator with a Concorde captain and a visit to the real Concorde cockpit on G-BBDG. The simulator is also available to hire on special occasions, corporate events and private parties where guests receive tuition from a former Concorde pilot.
The tour begins at the members’ bar where you are served drinks and are greeted by former Concorde Captain Mike Bannister, your instructor. Before entering the simulator, prospective pilots embark on a tour of the Brooklands Concorde, G-BBDG.
