The Brunner Yoke

The CLS-E NG force feedback yoke

In the previous issue of PC Pilot (issue 120), I looked at choosing the right flight controls for flight simming. In that article, I discussed price, product and feel. At entry level, Saitek, now Logitech, reigns supreme. At the other end of the spectrum, however, things get expensive and maybe, a little specialist. Can money really buy you happiness when it comes to flight simming? Is there a way to really replicate the feel of flying the real thing from the comfort of your own desk? Swiss manufacturing company Brunner Elektronik AG thinks you can but as always, the proof is in the pudding. So let’s dive in and take a look at the Brunner CLS-E NG force feedback yoke.

Swiss construction

Brunner isn’t that well known outside the German-speaking world, moreso when it comes to simulator work. In the professional simulator world, however, Brunner is well regarded. It offers a series of yokes, sticks, rudders and even collectives for helicopters, right the way up to the massive Full Flight Simulators (FFS) also known as the Level-D sim. The CLS-E NG represents a foray into the home-user market. With a pedigree like that, I’m kind of excited to unbox the yoke and get flying.
