Building in Bavaria

Lufthansa has enjoyed a positive start to Airbus A380 operations at Munich Airport after launching services in March. Airliner World’s James Ronayne visited the Bavarian gateway to hear all about the airline’s plans for them.

German flag carrier Lufthansa has strengthened its already considerable presence at Munich by relocating five of its 14-strong Airbus A380 fleet from Frankfurt (FRA) to the Bavarian airport. Since March 25, the super jumbos have been deployed on key routes to Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Beijing.

The move was another win for Munich Airport (MUC), following hot on the heels of the opening of the Star Alliance carrier’s excellent new Terminal 2 satellite pier in April 2016, and more recently its decision to make the airport its sole A350 XWB base.
