Give the ultimate gift this Christmas: shares in a PBY Catalina

Christmas is coming - so how about the ultimate present for the aviation fan who has almost everything: share ownership in Europe’s only airworthy Catalina flying boat as featured in last/this month's edition of FlyPast.

The Catalina Society, based at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, has announced that they are selling shares in order for people to become part of the group and experience becoming a regular flyer.

"If you can afford to run a second car but would rather spend your money on something much more fun, demanding and rewarding, why not become a member of the Catalina group?

"The lucky recipient of this gift can join the Catalina group, based at the Imperial War Museum airfield at Duxford in Cambridgeshire, in becoming a shareholder and being a regular flyer with us.  Shares are available to enthusiastic non-pilots and to pilots alike.  And we have space for a couple of non-pilots right now, so come and join others like you and gain access to some great flying, even attending shows around Europe, and flying there on board the Catalina.

"An Ordinary Share in the Group is available at £24,750 together with a monthly contribution towards operating costs of £300.  Shareholders may sell their share at any time, thus recouping the original £24,750 outlay.  The Group also has an ‘entry-level’ share option for those who wish to sample group membership but for a limited period and outlay.  With this option, one year’s group membership costs £5,000 (non-returnable) and provides an opportunity to fly with us without any monthly payments.  This type of share cannot be sold or transferred.

"If becoming a shareholder with our dedicated and friendly group interests you, then further information is available in our downloadable prospectus at https://www.catalina.org.uk/becoming-a-pby-catalina-shareholder/

"Alternatively a printed version of the prospectus can be obtained by emailing us at pby5@btinternet.com  and this address can also be used for any initial questions about share ownership you may have."

So, make someone’s – or your own! – Christmas and join this exciting group!
