Canadian SAR aircraft rolled out

AIRBUS MILITARY ROLLED out the first CC-295 Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) from the paint hangar at its facility in Seville, Spain, on October 8.

Based on the C295W airframe, the aircraft will replace the RCAF’s fleet of six CC-115 Buffalo and 13 CC-130Es that are currently used in the SAR role. Seven CC-295s are currently undergoing testing or in production in Seville. The Canadian government ordered 16 CC-295s in December 2016 and the initial aircraft made its first flight on July 4, 2019.
