After months of development, SimCoders has released the Reality Expansion Pack for Carenado Piper PA-31 Navajo.

The pack adds a highly realistic engine model and authentic flight dynamics developed in collaboration with actual Navajo pilots. A custom Lycoming TIO-540-A2C engine simulation features a custom fuel injection and turbocharger simulation. The oil system is affected by oil viscosity, spark plugs foul and a custom algorithm simulates the fuel/air mixture. A custom sound set provides realistic sound for the engines, wind sounds, stereo touchdown sounds and start-up sounds.

The onboard systems are accurately simulated to match the real aircraft, including the electrical system, avionics and vacuum pumps. Additional tools include maintenance reports, weight and balance, interactive walk-around check and a kneeboard with normal and emergency checklists.

Other highlights include a complex damage and failure system, which is triggered by pilot actions. For example, the undercarriage is damaged by hard landings, the avionics can fail if not turned off during engine starts and a hypoxia simulation can result in tunnel vision. It comes with realistic start-up procedures.

The aircraft state is saved after each flight, so every switch and lever position is restored when the aircraft is reloaded. For example, the battery may discharge if you leave it on and the engine oil temperature is restored based on the time passed from the last flight.

An economic system can be enabled/disabled on the fly and allows you to earn virtual money to buy fuel and do maintenance/repairs along with realistic fuel prices and is fully compatible with FSEconomy. The package includes native virtual reality support and automatic updates as the aircraft is improved.
