Scenery developer UK2000 has released Carlisle Airport EGNC for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Carlisle Airport is located in the Lake District in Cumbria. It was originally opened as RAF Crosby-on-Eden airfield during World War Two and was used for flight training and as a transport base for DC-3s. After the war, it became a hub for general aviation and cargo operations. The largest aircraft to land there was a Pan Am 727 in 1988. Recently, Loganair was the primary commercial operator at Carlisle Airport, offering flights to destinations such as Dublin and London Southend until April 2020, when the passenger terminal was closed until further notice.
The package from Microsoft Flight Simulator is an accurate rendition of the real-world destination, sporting detailed airport buildings, service vehicles, clutter on the apron and 3D people.
Other highlights include various hangars with interiors, static aircraft and a model of an Avro Vulcan (XJ823) owned by the Solway Aviation Museum. Carlisle Airport is available on simMarket for €11.99 (approx £10.25).
