Challenging Airports - Aosta, Italy (LIMW)

Aosta, Italy (LIMW)

For the first time in our Challenging Airports series we head to Italy and the scenic Aosta Valley in the heart of the Alps. Located in the northwest corner of Italy, Aosta Valley is just 20 miles from Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps at 15,774ft. With Switzerland a mere 10 miles to the north and France just 15 miles to the west, the Aosta Valley region is a mix of cultures and languages. Among the popular tourist activities are skiing, hiking, trekking, relaxing at local wineries and spas. History buffs will revel in the many castles that dot the entire length of the valley. A land for all seasons, the region is a perfect getaway and the flight into Aeroporto della Valle d’Aosta is just one slice of the adventure.

Runway contamination of ice, snow and slush can be expected. Take-off and landing data should be referenced for those adverse conditions.
