CityJet has acquired two airlines since 2015 and introduced two new aircraft types to its fleet: the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) which made it the first operator in Western Europe of this type, and the Bombardier CRJ900NG.

The business has also changed hands a number of times in recent years with German company Intro Aviation buying CityJet from Air France in 2014. Founder of CityJet Pat Byrne rejoined the carrier as executive chairman in February 2015 and then he and a group of investors bought the airline in 2016.
