Launched in 2004, the ambitious MiG-29K/KUB fighter programme resulted in the first customer delivery of shipborne examples of the type – NATO callsign 'Fulcrum' – five years later. It also opened the doors to the development of a series of new-generation land-based derivatives for domestic use and export, now known as the MiG-35 and MiG-29M/M2 respectively.
