AIRCRAFT MAKERS Convair were the only real American proponents of the delta wing design during the post-World War Two era. This was typified by two superb fighter designs, the F-102 Delta Dagger and the F-106 Delta Dart, both of which served the USAF in large numbers, with the F-106 being retired as recently as 1988.
