Royal Air Force (RAF)-operated Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning IIs currently embarked on HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08) have participated in their first international air exercise as the aircraft carrier continues on its seven-month maiden deployment to the Indo-Pacific region.

The fifth-generation multi-role stealth fighters, which are assigned to No 617 Squadron ‘The Dambusters’ – presently the RAF’s sole F-35B frontline combat unit – were launched from HMS Queen Elizabeth on May 25 to participate in Exercise Atlantic Trident. This two-week trinational event took place across a variety of locations in France from May 17-28 and involved aircraft and personnel from the French, British and American militaries.
