Eagle Dynamics has announced the Early Access version of DCS: Sinai Map is now available.

Developed by OneReTech, the map focuses on the Sinai Peninsula between the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba with eastern Egypt to the west and southern Israel to the east. It covers the entire Sinai Peninsula, eastern Egypt, the Nile Delta, southern Israel, including western Jordan and Saudi Arabia, Palestine - the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The coastline of the Suez Canal, the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba have also been recreated in greater detail.
Other highlights include a variety of landscapes such as mountains, rivers, deserts, agricultural areas, seas and bays. A significant point of interest is the Suez Canal, an artificial waterway connecting the Mediterranean and Red Seas, providing a shorter route between Europe and Asia. DCS: Sinai is date modelled from 2000 to 2022 with a coverage area of 1500 x 1000km and the more detailed Suez Canal is 700 x 700km.

In modern times, the Suez Canal is associated with the Arab-Israeli wars, during which it repeatedly became the subject of disputes. This includes the Suez Crisis of 1956, the Six-Day War in 1967 and the Yom Kippur War during 1973. As a result of these wars, Sinai changed hands between Egypt and Israel until when it was returned to Egypt in 1982.

The map contains military bases and strategic seaports, emplacements for air defence systems and helipads, allowing a variety of missions to be created, both in the air and on the ground.
Major cities include Cairo, Ismailia, Alexandria, Suez, Port Said, and Tel Aviv. Objects and assets have been divided into territories to present unique and regional characteristics. Approximately 100 objects and architectural monuments, such as the Giza pyramids, airfield facilities and custom tree models are included in the scenery.

DCS: Sinai is being developed and released in phases, with each stage adding new airfields and unique objects. The Early Access release includes 29 air bases: nine Israeli airfields, including Ben Gurion International Airport and 20 Egyptian airfields, including Cairo International Airport.

All the airfields are accurately modelled with lighting, approach lights, PAPI, TACAN, and VOR systems. During Early Access, the map will be expanded to model nearly 40 civil and military airfields, including Wadi al Jandali, Abu Suwayr, Faid Air Base, Nevatim Air Base, Ramon Airbase and many more.
DCS: Sinai is available on Eagle Dynamics’ website for $39.99 (approx £32).
