First flown in 1945, the classic DH Dove is still flying in limited numbers. Sebastian Schmitz tells the story of one of the most active examples, D-INKA, which recalls German holiday operator LTU.

The de Havilland DH.104 Dove is among the most successful British-built aircraft. Unlike its predecessor, the twin-engined de Havilland Dragon Rapide, the Dove was designed as a monoplane and became one of the world’s first dedicated feeder aircraft. Between the Dove’s first flight in 1945 and the last one rolling off the production line in 1967, 542 aircraft were built in many different variants at factories in Hatfield and Broughton. The Dove became very popular in particular with small regional and charter airlines around the world.
