It’s hard to imagine that until 1960 there was no real airport in Dubai, a place that’s now becoming one of the most popular destinations for travellers who are looking for something a little different.

In comparison to many international airports, Dubai is a relative newcomer but it’s currently the busiest airport in the world in terms of international passenger numbers and in 2019, more than 86 million passengers passed through its gates. Naturally, this figure dropped dramatically during the pandemic but the latest published figures from 2022 show an increase to 66 million and rising.
