BEGINNING IN 2014 the United Arab Emirates (together with Egypt) has covertly provided aircraft, helicopters, spare parts and technical support to the Libyan National Army (LNA), the military arm of one of two major factions vying for power in Libya. Since the launch of the LNA’s Operation Dignity in May 2014, the UAE has supported the Tobruk Government and General Khalifa Haftar, the main commander of the LNA.
