Dutch Apache upgrade

Dutch and United States oicials signed a contract at Gilze-Rijen Air Base on September 14, 2018, covering the upgrade of the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s leet of AH-64D Apache attack helicopters. The letter of ofer and acceptance, signed by the State Secretary of Defence for the Netherlands, Barbara Visser, and Principal Director of the US Defense Security Co-operation Agency, Michèle Hizon, covers the upgrade of 28 Apaches and is valued at more than $1 billion.

The work will commence in 2021 with deliveries to the Royal Netherlands Air Force to commence in 2022. Dutch AH-64s are operated by 301 Squadron at Gilze-Rijen and 302 Squadron at Fort Hood, Texas, and assigned to the Defence Helicopter Command.
